Beta 1.2 Progress


In a recent dev stream, I had a visit from the amazing DJGunZZZZzzz (Goody B on Spotify) and he created a soundtrack for the beta 1.2 release! 

So for a little experiment, we came up with the idea to manipulate the game track in real time. As you progress thru a run, the music will become more intense as you get closer to your personal record. 

We liked the overall result and its ready to go! But as the game is now full of Music and Sounds, I'd like to implement an options menu to disable them before release. So... Soon™.


Other implemented changes - 

  • Renew was falling behind shield midgame:
    • Renew tick speed unlocks increased to increase healing output, this will work retroactively with current saves
    • Shield exp gains were slightly reduced to reduce the gap between renew and shield levels - only future exp gains will be impacted
  • Added gear score range information to the stats screen to help clarify where gear score comes from.

Pending WIP changes for Beta 1.2:

  1. When you kill the new record boss, you gain 1 Fame. If you progress to additional bosses in the same run, we should reward additional fame the deeper you can go - rather than 1 each. As this will further intensify the soundtrack, this could be interesting.
  2. Options menu for Sound Controls
  3. Credits screen to acknowledge contributions
  4. Implement a hard reset option


Backlog considerations (looking for feedback):

  1. HTML5 conversion
  2. Additional healing skills / mechanics
  3. Crafting items that change core mechanics when equipped 
  4. Random party member classes
  5. Boss mechanics
    1. Attack patterns and stats based on boss type
    2. Chance to spawn adds
    3. Necromancy (dead players revived as enemy adds)
  6. Ability to "wand" the boss in between heals to contribute DPS
  7. Ability to debuff boss with temporary effects you have to maintain

Intended features complete. Working on some rebalancing to make sure progress is possible midgame, level 500+ probably wasn't lol. Playtesting the impact on early game and then ill ship 1.2

Spoiler alert, healing a 100-man raid was insane. Machine gun renews are a thing.
